Protect your investments and the marketability of your cereal crop by being aware of the market considerations for the following crop protection products: glyphosate (e.g. Roundup), saflufenacil (e.g. Kixor) and chlormequat (e.g. Manipulator).
- Oats: Consult your grain buyer before using glyphosate on oats; treated crops may not be accepted. When allowed, ensure the greenest part of the crop is at less than 30% grain moisture before applying pre-harvest glyphosate for weed control.
- Wheat and barley: Only use pre-harvest glyphosate on wheat and barley once the greenest part of the crop is at less than 30% grain moisture.
- Malt barley: Do not use pre-harvest glyphosate or saflufenacil; malt barley will not be accepted by grain buyers if treated with these products. Before using chlormequat on malt barley, check with your grain buyer to confirm contract obligations and acceptance.
