India’s Ministry of Agriculture adds Canada to its list of ‘methyl bromide phased-out’ countries!

In 2016 POGA applied through Market Access Secretarit to remove the requirement that oats shipped to India be sprayed to Methyl Bromide (MeBr), an illegal substance in Canada. In 2023 Canada made India‘s list of countries that have phased out MeBr. This means Canadian shipments of oats and oat products (among all Plant products) that, on arrival, would otherwise have been subject to a fumigation penalty in India will not be subject to a penalty. This is great news for the oat industry.  If you want to see the official list you can click here and select the item headed List of MBr Phased Out Countries. https://pqms.cgg.gov.in/pqms-angular/homeGuidelines/Import
